Shelley Coleman, PhD, LPC, ALPS, NCC, EFT-S, EFFT, SEP

Dr. Shelley Coleman is a Licensed Professional Counselor in West Virginia and holds specialty certifications in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Somatic Experiencing.  She is also an assistant professor for the Townsend Institute at Concordia University in Irvine, California. Shelley’s clinical work focuses on couples and families, as well as trauma recovery and healing. Shelley completed her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Rebecca Beaver, MS, LPC, AADC, CCTP

Hello, I am Rebecca Beaver and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been married for 33 years and have two adult daughters, a 13 year old Shih Tzu, Holly, and 2 cats including my Tortie, Suki and Roary. I am active in my local church and love nature and exploring our beautiful state. I have foundational belief that healthy relationships, including our relationship with ourselves, are core to making a meaningful life. I believe people have potential to heal and learn to navigate the challenges of life healthily and with purpose.

I have two Master of Science Degrees from Grand Canyon University in Addiction Counseling and Professional Counseling with an undergraduate degree in Psychology. I have an advanced certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling. I am an ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist and work with Couples and Families. I have completed IFS Level 1 through the IFS Institute and am pursuing certification. I have also completed the EMDRIA BASIC Training in EMDR. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Therapist (CCTP) and have several years of experience in assisting clients on their healing journeys. My focus population is primarily couples, families, adults and older adolescents.

Karole Hayes, MA, LPC

Karole Hayes is a Licensed Professional Counselor in West Virginia and has training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Karole worked in full-time ministry at River Ridge Church for eight years as the Kids Ministry Director. Prior to her ministry work, she worked as a school counselor for 5 years with at-risk youth. Additionally, Karole worked with college students through a non-denominational ministry, Cru, for two years prior to obtaining her Master’s Degree in Counseling.

Taylor Wells, MA, LPC, ICEEFT,
Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist, Accelerated Resolution Trained Therapist

Taylor obtained her Master's Degree in Counseling at Marshall University in 2016. After graduation, she became certified as an Emotionally Focused Therapist. She provides EFT services for couples which is an evidenced-based method geared towards addressing dysfunctional relationship patterns and creating a safe and healthy connection between partners. Taylor uses a collaborative approach with her clients, which allows space for her to create treatment plans based on each individual’s unique set of needs and goals. There is no greater honor than to be present with another human as they make the difficult decision to take control of their life and prove to themselves that they are capable of significant growth and change. Besides working with couples, her specialty areas for individual counseling include: depression, anxiety, grief, issues in adolescent years, trauma, and self-esteem.

Maddy Murphy, MA, NCC

Maddy is a Provisionally Licensed Counselor in West Virginia, and her approach is culturally sensitive, and trauma informed. She uses a variety of evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Transactional Analysis, to help individuals (12 years and older) and families. Maddy completed her practicum and internship at Fairmont State University, where she worked with college-aged students. In addition, Maddy provides gender-affirming mental health care and has experience working with the LGBTQ+ community through her work at FSU. Her primary clinical interests include anxiety, depression, gender and sexuality, relationship conflicts, family/parenting dynamics, and trauma.

Alyssa Cobb, MS

Alyssa Cobb holds a Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from West Virginia University and is currently practicing as a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor under a temporary permit. 

At Valley Counseling Alyssa aims to provide a supportive and collaborative space for individuals navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, adjustment-related challenges, grief, and trauma. While she enjoys working with clients across the lifespan, she has a particular passion for working with children and teens, helping them feel heard, understood, and empowered.

Alyssa’s therapeutic approach is integrative, meaning she draws from various evidence-based modalities to meet each person’s unique needs. Above all, she strives to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their experiences, discover their strengths, and begin their journey toward healing and growth. Alyssa offers both in-person and telehealth appointments.
